DLCL Eliminator Round Under 12: South East Zone and North East Zone

 

On Monday (May 22nd), DLCL Eliminator Round Under 12 category was played between South East Zone and North East Zone at Green Field Ghevra. The match concluded with a convincing win for North East Zone. As Sureet Bisht’s four-fer and Tanish Lamba’s quickfire 44 helped the team win by 14 runs.

 

Match highlights: After winning the toss, North East Zone’s captain Manav Mishra chose to bat. Coming to bat first the young batters displayed a classy show. Opener batters Garvit (16 off 28) and Yash Sharma (7 off 19) gave their team a decent start, stitching a partnership of 36 runs in 6 overs.

 

Soon Ayaana with an immaculate delivery got the first breakthrough for South East Zone. Coming to batter at first down, Keshav Krishna anchored his team’s boat with a 32-run knock off 28 deliveries. However, Tanish Lamba was the highest scorer in the first innings. Smashing 8 boundaries, Lamba scored 44 off only 28 balls. Helping his team put up a strong total of 133 runs in 20 overs.

 

For South East Zone, Lucky Ali despite being the most expensive scalped 3 wickets, while Shashank Raj and Dhawan Tomar picked 2 each.

 

Talking about the second innings, South East Zone’s skipper Garv led the team from the front scoring a gutsy 42 off 37 smashing as many as 8 boundaries. However, his lone fight went in vain as no other batter could even score in double digits. A late blitz came off Aarav Singh’s bat, nonetheless, North East Zone’s bowlers were sharp enough to keep the situation under their control.

 

Surjeet Bisht’s superb figures of 10 for 4 in 3 wickets helped Manav Mishra-led North East Zone register a 14-run defeat over South East Zone. For his four crucial wickets, Bisht was adjudged the Player of the Match.

 

Notably, this elimination round is being held to narrow down the field of contenders for the Sponsorship League 2023, in which participants will be supported by DLCL India.
